‘India Edition SupaStore x Thapar’, 2nd to 8th February 2026, was a striking activation in the courtyard of Bikaner House, Delhi. Presenting works by Vibha Galhotra, Mehmood Hassan, Raaj Rufaro, Gigi Scaria and Mithu Sen, bringing together established voices from the Delhi art scene alongside emerging diasporic practices.
The splendid stainless steel SupaStore, a lively asymmetric sculptural kiosk, was imagined by Sarah Staton and constructed by Thapar Gallery in Delhi. to encourage close looking – viewers approach the windows, and encounter works within, at an intimate distance. Derived from earlier cabinet structures developed across the project’s history, this iteration of the SupaStore kiosk, for the first time in metal, presents a compact interior space for a constellation of works that foregrounded the trace of the hand and bring strong attention to the materiality of the sculptural object.
India’s rapidly expanding yet niche contemporary art market, coexists with strong traditions of street trading and open markets, the Delhi kiosk introduces SupaStore to a context where commerce, craft and informal exchange operate side by side. This project forms another node within a network of structures and encounters that connect multiple iterations of the project across different cities.
‘India Edition SupaStore x Thapar’ is co-curated by Jasone Miranda-Bilbao and Vaibhav Raj Shah, and project marks the first Indian iteration of the SupaStore series, extending the global reach of its long running exploration of relationships between art, display and systems of exchange.
